FRACTURE SURGERY
Fractures, broken bones and other injuries are among the most common reasons to see an orthopaedic surgeon. Many fractures can be treated without surgery. Simple casting, bracing or immobilization is all that is needed.
However, some fractures are more serious than others. Some fractures are severely displaced, broken in many pieces or have a high rate of delayed healing, these are some of the reasons to repair a fractured bone. With modern fixation techniques and implants, patients can expect a faster return to activities and work. Bones still heal over the course of 6 to 12 weeks but newer devices and techniques allow people to walk sooner than ever before.
