He was exposed to a wide range of patients in the emergency department, surgical wards and in the rehabilitation setting. These experiences helped bolster his desire to become physician and he gained acceptance to medical school. He decided on the University of Cincinnati due to the wide range of specialties and the world renowned Children’s hospital.

He also saw and performed thousands of fracture surgeries from broken fingers to high energy multiple fractures. He covered both the adult and children’s emergency departments caring for all ages of injuries.
The intense training program also included several research projects. Projects that garnered recognition at the state and national levels. Dr. Auer has presented these projects at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons on multiple occasions.
